Timbre collects what it needs to answer your questions and bill you, and nothing it does not.

Who is responsible
Juracich operates Timbre and is the controller of the personal data described here. Write to timbre@juracich.com about anything on this page.
What we collect from you
- Account details: your email address, an optional name, and your password stored only as a salted scrypt hash.
- What you ask: questions, the answers generated for them, saved conversations, saved profiles, compile requests and any feedback you leave on an answer.
- Your optional context: what you share during onboarding and the memory you choose to keep about your work, goals and answer preferences.
- Usage records: one entry per question or compile, with a time and the profile involved, used to enforce plan limits.
- Billing: your plan, subscription status and Stripe customer id. Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us.
- Technical data: IP address and request logs held by our hosting provider, used for security and rate limiting.
Your memory and personalization
When memory is enabled, Timbre uses a short profile to make answers and suggested questions relevant to your situation. Onboarding can add the context you provide. Automatic learning reads your own messages and existing memory, rather than a simulated person’s answers or the source transcripts, to identify useful context about your work.
You can see, edit, pin and delete memory in Settings. Automatic updates are shown in the conversation with an undo control. You can turn off automatic learning, turn off use of your profile, or leave it out of a particular conversation. A separate setting controls its use in connected AI clients through MCP.
Settings also lets you export your memory as JSON or delete it all. Deleting an individual memory removes its text and keeps a one-way rejection marker so it is not learned again. Deleting all memory also removes those markers and memory history, turns learning off, and prevents earlier chats from rebuilding it. Deleting memory does not delete the conversations it came from; delete those separately if you want the original messages removed too.
Cookies
Timbre sets two cookies, both strictly necessary, and no advertising or tracking cookies:
timbre_sessionkeeps you signed in, for up to 30 days.timbre_anonis a random id that counts the free questions a signed-out visitor has asked, for up to 30 days.
Your theme and a few interface preferences are kept in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to us.
About the people profiled
Profiles are built only from recordings their subjects published or took part in publicly. We store transcript passages, recording titles, links and dates, and a portrait derived from the subject’s own public image. Our basis is legitimate interest in making the public record searchable and citable. Any subject can have their profile removed; see the removal page.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you signed up for: answering questions, saving your library, running compiles (contract).
- To tailor answers and suggested questions using your profile when you enable that feature, and to maintain the memory controls you choose.
- To bill you and enforce plan limits (contract).
- To keep Timbre secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interest).
- To improve answer quality using the feedback you choose to give (legitimate interest).
- To send you account email: compile results, password resets, verification and billing notices. We do not send marketing email without asking first.
Who processes it
We do not sell personal data. These providers process it on our behalf:
- Anthropic, which generates answers and helps identify memory updates. Your question, relevant conversation context, retrieved passages and enabled profile context may be sent to it. Automatic memory learning uses your messages and existing memory. It does not use API data to train its models.
- Stripe, for payments.
- Resend, for sending email.
- Vercel, which hosts the site.
- DigitalOcean, which hosts the database.
These providers are based in the United States, so your data is processed there.
If you connect Timbre to an AI client through MCP, that client receives the answers it requests. When your MCP memory setting is enabled, those answers may reflect your saved context. The client’s own privacy policy governs what it does with the information it receives.
How long we keep it
Account data, saved conversations and usage records are kept while your account exists. Sessions expire after 30 days. Cached answers are kept for up to 30 days. When you delete your account, your account, sessions, saved conversations, saved profiles, personal memory, memory history, usage records and feedback are deleted. Stripe keeps billing records for as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
You can see and change your details in Settings, export or delete your memory, delete your account there, and export or correct anything else by writing to timbre@juracich.com. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA) you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
We answer requests within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising.
Children
Timbre is not meant for anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email account holders before the change takes effect.
